JOB OVERVIEW
The DevOps Engineer at BigBeard Business will be instrumental in bridging the gap between development and operations teams, fostering a culture of automation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This role focuses on building and maintaining efficient CI/CD pipelines, managing cloud infrastructure, and implementing DevOps best practices to ensure the reliable and rapid delivery of high-quality software. The DevOps Engineer will work closely with development and operations teams to optimize workflows and enhance system stability.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Design, implement, and manage robust CI/CD pipelines for automated software building, testing, and deployment.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management using tools like Terraform and Ansible.
- Manage and maintain cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS and Azure.
- Implement and manage monitoring and logging solutions to ensure system health and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the development and production environments.
- Implement and enforce security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Promote a DevOps culture of collaboration, communication, and shared responsibility.
- Optimize and automate operational processes.
- Stay current with the latest DevOps tools and methodologies.
- Contribute to the development of DevOps standards and documentation.
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role (typically 2+ years).
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- DevOps Principles: Deep understanding of continuous integration, continuous delivery, and infrastructure as code.
- Automation: Expertise in automating software delivery and infrastructure management.
- CI/CD: Proficiency in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines.
- Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure.
- Scripting: Strong scripting skills in at least one language (Python, Bash).
- Containerization: Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Monitoring & Logging: Experience with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack.
- Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
